OK, I am in the middle of removing the suspension and brakes on my '79and am ordering a few more parts that I will need. I see that the rear end cover comes either with a 2 - 1/4" or 2 - 1/2" spring pad width. I have the Vette Brakes max performance suspension kit with the fiberglass leaf springs front and rear. Anyone know which rearend cover I would need with this suspension setup? Thanks in advance!
Looks like they offer it either way
If it's for the 79 it should be the 2-1/2, they changed in 78
If you have the spring, just measure the width between where the bolts go (there is a steel plate on top and bottom of the spring, the bolts go outside that plate, so don't measure the spring it'self)
If you haven't got the kit yet, give them a call.

VBP should be able to tell you which spring size they sold you, which will tell you which cover you need. Let me know when you figure it out, I've got the covers.
Several vendors sell a rear spring kit which requires that you install thread inserts into the diff to accommodate their own non-oem kit. Just be aware that you need to determine up front if your diff has the OEM bolt thread size or the aftermarket thread size. I replaced an aftermarket spring with a factory spring for a customer and had to drill out the inserts to get the OEM parts to go back on... it was a PITA.
If you have a dual mount rear spring, it doesn't matter what cover you have or need, as the dual mount spring doesn't attach to the rear end cover any more.
Thanks! I see now that it does not actually mount to the diff cover. I guess it does not really matter which cover I get then. I still have not heard back from VBP. I remember a topic the other day regarding their poor customer service of late......

I've read the thread...We are always here to help and we can also offer tech advise on their products as well. We set up many cars with different types of suspension systems.
