One headlight in my '69 coupe has starting acting up. The headlight will not open on it's own, I have to pull it open by hand, but when the lights are turned off, it closes fine by itself. I didn't think it was possible for the actuator to work in one direction but not the other, so now I'm wondering if a different component is causing the issue.
Any thoughts/experienc would be greatly appreciated!

If you do a search you will find threads on troubleshooting headlight vacuum issues. The acutator may not be the problem, it could be the valve controlling the actuator. An easy test is to swap the hoses on the valves and see if the problem shows up on the other headlight.

I think the headlight vacuum system on your '69 has just one relay. If that is the case, I strongly suspect the front seal on the actuator in question. Not a bad job to remove the actuator and replace the seal. I think most of the vendors that advertise on the forum sell actuator seal kits.
And yes, it certainly is possible for an actuator to work in one direction and not the other. And the front seal is usually the problem.
