i e-mailed BFG tonite, i'm trying to get the $50 rebate. i bought new skins, TA255/60/15's on 3/18/02 from Tire Rack. i understand the rebate started on 3/25/02. I have owned this car 6 years and it was such a relief to be rolling on new meats. I really like the BFG's,but i'm not holding my breath for the rebate, i'm well familiar with corporate America, having worked for AT&T, Illinois Bell, Ameritech and now SBC. BUT $50 is $50!!! I ordered early so i could refurbish the aluminum wheels; I repainted the blacked out areas, buffed the aluminum with mother's mag wheel polish and a buffer. new caps and emblems from contemporary corvette. any way, keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck. i did mention that i heard about the rebate on our beloved forum, so maybe all of us "potential" customers will carry some weight in the decision making process.
If BFG doesn't give you any satisfaction, talk to Tire Rack. I had trouble with a set of tires (no names 'cuz they were good...long story) on my '97 Cougar. The folks at Tire Rack went to bat for me and got the mfr. to refund my money!
I e-mailed Mario @ Tire Rack first and he e-mailed back and said this was a BFG rebate, leaving them out of the picture at this point. So I'll be a patient man and keep a good memory when one of my other 3 cars needs new meats. ;)
I agree with Page62, try to get the Tire Rack into the mix too. I had a rusting issue with my American Racing wheels and initially AR said they wouldn't replace them. The guy from Discount Tire really hounded them on the phone saying that it was too odd of a problem and that it was only happening on one tire and then this part was really cool......he told them it would really be in their best interest to replace it because it was on a classic corvette and was good advertisement for AR to replace and bad advertisement for them to not. I kid you not. He even went as far as saying that the car was "immaculate" and looked liked it was never driven in the rain and only on perfect days. Made me feel so cool!
Now honestly, my car isn't in THAT great of shape but the guy was trying his best to help me out, and I had never even dealt with him before. So then AR caved in and sent me a replacement within 2 days.
So I awarded Discount Tire with my next purchase of some wheels for my truck. :D
tshort, glad things worked out for you.
in regard to the # of BFG's sold between 3/18 and 3/25, i'll bet a lot of those people don't know about the rebate or if they do just said "oh well!'. I wouldn't have known about the rebate with out this forum and i'm hoping our large # of members, influences BFG's decision.
Ok, yesterday I got an e-mail from BFG saying they sold the tires business to Michelin in 1986(who knew) so i had to e-mail http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com. which i just got done doing a few minutes ago. also, after e-mailing them i returned to their home page and decided to see what they had in my tire size, 255/60/15. so i typed in 255, went to the next column and "60" isn't even listed as an option. so maybe the old 255/60/15 BFG is on the way out.
Actually, it's quite well gone, not just on the way out. It's been at least a year since I checked for the 255/60-15 T/A production, and it was discontinued then. TireRack and some others have the last remaining stock. I considered buying 2 sets, and storing one of them in the attic, but a tire engineer told me that wasn't a good idea - too much deterioration over time from heat and oxidation... so I just forgot about it...
some guy called from bfgoodrichtires before i got home from work and said i needed to contact tire rack, who directed me to bfg in the first place, since my purchase was out of the rebate time frame. i'm being "ping-ponged" :mad . so i e-mailed bfgoodrichtires again and advised them i was directed to them by tire rack. i also added that i will consider their response when making future tire buying decisions. i'm about ready to punt.
I'M IN THE $$$$. michelin consumer relations notified me 5/24 that they will grant me the $50 rebate on the TA's i bought 3/18/02. that lowers my $$ outlay from $313 to $263. now i just have to be patient while waiting for the actual $$$.
