LS1 motor mount question
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but I went to bolt my stock '75 motor mounts to the Dirty Dingo adapter plates I'm using for the LS1 conversion, and they won't mount flush to the plates. There's a small hump on the back of the stock motor mount that hits the adapter plate, and it leaves a small gap between the two. No way it is supposed to be like this...
What am I missing? Did you guys have to shim the stock mount with washers? The bolts provided with the mounts don't seem nearly long enough to do that...

That's pretty common. Most plates will have a cut out for that. If it's just rubber or poly you can just chop that off flush.

Yeah, unfortunately that's metal. So I either have to notch the adapter plate and ruin one of the alternate mounting holes, or shim it with washers.
This kind of thing irritates the fire out of me.

If it was easy anybody could do it. I guess that's why they call it car crafting. How about cutting the hump off the mount?

If it's a common issue, then I'll either shim it or try to grind the mound off. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't misisng something. Thanks.

On the Energy Suspension poly mounts, that piece is plastic/poly. I cut it off. You might consider the poly mounts anyway.

Found a set of poly mounts that are completely flat on the back, so I bought those...should have them in a couple days.
Thanks guys.
