Default Serpentine Belt Conversion

Does anyone know of a decent serp conversion? I haven't found one with the alternator on the drivers side and a/c on the pass. side. I just finished the new engine and installed an electric water pump, which now looks like I'll have to remove it to facilitate ANY of the serp systems out there.
Did see a March system, but $1800.00 is out of the question.

Check this out:

I'm not sure if this would fit under a 'vette hood, the alternator is a little high looking. Still, worth checking out.

I have the GM Performance Parts Catalog Serpentine kit on my ZZ4 which is in my 68.

For a serpentine system for your C3, this is by far the most economical.

For extra bucks, toss the Serpentine kit cast iron water pump for an Edelbrock aluminum pump and get some March under drive pulleys.

I used a setup from an 89' Firebird 305 engine.

I also used the "F" body small block serpentine set up from a late 80's Camaro. Junk yard if I remember correctly charged me $125 for the complete set up including the p/s pump, alternator and harmonic balancer and other pulleys. Also grab the water pump from the doner car because the serpentine system uses a reverse flow water pump. Another thing you will either have to go with an electric fan or purchase one from a GM vehicle that also uses the reverse flow fan. I opted to go with the DeWitts radiator fan combo Been on the car for almost 5 years with great results.

For me it bolted right up. There's one or two bolts that bolt to the heads, but I have newer heads, World Products, that had the bolt holes already. They can be drilled on older heads and some have just not bolted to the heads at all. The March underdrive pulleys gave me more clearance between the crank pulley and frame. As wnmech said, get a rad. with electric fans setup. I also have Dewitts, and an Edelbrock Victor Jr. reverse flow water pump, the Firebird power steering pump & CS130 alternator, and an 87' vette ac compressor.

Thanks to both mike80 & wnmech. I have the Dewitts radiator/elec. fan and Vortec heads already so the rest sounds very reasonable.

I decided NOT to go with the GMPP serpentine for my '69 due to someone at the local Chevy dealership writing in the parts catalog in big letters "will not fit under the stock corvette hood." I went with and '84 '89 combo setup. I still need to figure out an AIR pump delete.

when I did my conversion with the "F" body serpentine set up I just eliminated the air pump and made several trips to A/Zone with belt length measurements and I finally boutht the house brand the number on it is 935k6. If you dont like the A/Z brand belt I also have some conversion numbers for more expensive brand names. My system has the R4 compressor and if your car has the A6 compresor I am not sure if this belt will work on yours.

I too am putting on the GM serpentine conversion parts. Can anyone tell me from what year and car water pump to use? I bought one from an '87 Vette at the local part store, but it doesn't fit.

I would like to know if there is a serp system out there that will allow you to use a stock 73 water pump and mechanical fan. I would be able to switch to a serp system, but my racing class mandates i must keep the stock water pump and must have the mechanical fan. I can change out pulleys and brackets, but not the equipment. Oh yea, i must keep the stock power steering pump also. Any ideas?

If you don't have AC, then one of the kits from March on this page may work. I am using the 20450, but with a electric fan.

I purchased my water pump from the late 80's camaro that my system came off of and no problems with it.

Yea a 1988-1992 Camaro water pump will work.

BUT I have found most do not have a inlet for the heater core. So not sure how others have been hooking it up make sure to get one with at least 1 screw in port.

My 89 camaro water pump came with a port for the heater core and the other heater core port came off of the intake manifold.

This is the Millerspeed system. It's not serpentine, but picks up ~10 RWHP @ 5,500 RPM on the dyno and maintains the stock equipment. Belt has absolutely no slippage regardless of how loose you run it and even though the water pump is slightly underdriven, the water temperature has not gone up at all, and may even be a bit lower. This is actually a high performance, heavy equipment timing belt.

He also has a different crank pully to accomodate the P/S.
