Take off your side molding & you'll see the holes in the frame for the sidepipes :yesnod: .

There a slot in the frame already that's located where the rear mounting bracket on the side pipe is located. Would think the the frame of your '71 would also have this slot. The "T" bolt goes in the slot then its turned 90 degrees. Not that hard to install, but as showned in the instructions, the rocker molding has to be notched.

I say rear bracket, because Hooker use to supply the side pipes with two mounting brackets for each pipe. Don't know how they are now made.

ST is right, the rocker molding got to be removed. Check out the instructions, as they should provide location for the notch(s).

If I want to be really accurate with the notch location, do a trial fit. First loosen the rocker molding, install a header using only two header bolts and leave the bolts loose, (do the right side first, it's easier than LS). Slip the side pipe in place. Now with the sidepipe mounting bracket under the rocker, tighter the two header bolts and mark the notch location, then disassemble. Should be able to slip the molding by the header, (once you again loosen the two header bolts.

Before attempting to install anything on the car, trial fit the side pipe to the headers. Use antiseize, (the silver stuff) when slipping together. You may have to lightly file the edge of the header collector.

Instead of using the suppled hardware to tighten the sidepipe to the header, buy some stainless steel hardware, (from a marine supply). Stainless won't rust.

About the right side being easier than driver's side, that probably only applies if you don't have A/C.

Another things is to be careful with the T bolts as they can fall inside the frame rail and are a PITA to get out.
