Default New Exhaust Question

My question is how close is too close for the pipe to be from the bottom of car. I know that on my '71 it has no metal floors. Had new exhaust put on today in a couple places the pipe is within an half an inch the rest is far enough to stick your hand between the pipe and floor board. Should I wrap it with some sort of heat tape? Thanks Ray.

I dont know exactly how close is too close, but if you feel the need you could use some header wrap. I've got my exhaust wrapped near my rear fiberglass spring to keep it from getting too hot and it seems to work well.

you could also somehow stick some aluminum foil on the underside of your floorpans so the heat would be reflected somewhat.
