Default Oil pan

I'm building a 496 for my 72.I am looking at a road race pan from Milodon but I have not heard good things. It looses oil pressure under hard breaking. Has anyone else hear of this, and does any other manufacture make a road race pan?

Make sure you measure space between headers. ( I assume you are ) I bought a pan at a swap Cause I wanted a little more capacity. Plus you don't want a kickout pan to close to a header. Hope this helps.

I've got a discontinued Moroso BB/RR pan, with 5 gates, and don't recall ever having lost prime under severe braking, but certainly have during long sweepers. From what I can tell they are very similar designs (except the Milodon apparently has no provision for a dipstick). Honestly, I'd suspect a trap door not swinging freely (BTDT) before necessarily blaming the pan's design or maker.

I've been told Aviad offers one, but don't recall eyeballing it. Canton doesn't show one, but may also. Same for Ed Hamburger, last I checked.

As for fit, I have Hooker sidemounts and do not have power steering, so I can't speak to possible interference issues regarding either item.

FWIW, if you're really going to put any wet-sump BB/RR pan to the test, based on my experience you'd better be considering a fitted crank scraper, modern windage tray, and an accumulator. I'd also advise against unnecessarily high oil pressures, especially if you've a HV pump, to reduce the risk of over evacuating the sump. FWIW, I run a pressure-balanced, submerged, bottom-feed (direct pickup), HV pump, which I will be adjusting as required to optimize delivery.

I have a canton oil pan. One thing I do is carry a passenger and have them watch for any fluctuations in pressusre. None since I have had this pan. Check Canton to see if they have one for your application.

PS: An Accusump (or other brand) of Oil Accumulators may not be a bad idea.

Isn't it a shame that you'll find 100 drag race pans for every road race pan?

I had a custom one fabbed up by www.billetfab.com, to fit my titan oil pump.

Road race pans are all about the baffling.
