Fuel Sock/Stariner
Ok so I have been chasing a problem with my fuel system. I put new molded lines on from the from to the pump, rebuilt the carb, and cleaned the fuel filter thats inline from the pump to the carb. The lines at the tank are good. I have narrowed it down to the sock/strainer. So is it needed. I have a good fuel filter. I will order a new one if it is really needed, but if i can run with out it why not save 20 bucks. Cars a 75 the bladder is in good condition.

The 75's fuel tank sender (has the sock on the end) can only be removed if you drop the tank.
BTW: you did not mention what problem you are chasing.... What leads you to believe the sock is "no good"?

maybe a vacuum issue.you could spray carb. cleaner around the base of your carb.and see if you hear the rpms raise.if you do hear an increase in rpms, you may have found your problem.just a thought.

You dont have to have the sock filter in place.
You will dirty your fuel filter faster without it, especially the the first one, but it will work fine otherwise.
