Check PS Fluid
Hey guys, just getting back to work on my 77.
Is it mine or me, but I can't remove the power steering cap because the lower alternator bracket is in the way.
Is this the "way it is"?
It's been 15 years so I don't recall if thats the way it always was...
Thanks...

Yes it is a chore. That is one of the reasons I am cleaning everything down there. A simple p/s fluid check would get my hands dirty.
I use a long funnel when I need to add fluid.

Melting Slicks
Don't know if the 77 is like my 78, but I can get the cap off but a hassle putting it back in the reservoir and then removing to check the level.
I took an oil dip stick and made a few bends to replicate the cap. I first put notches in for "hot" and "cold". Then bent the stick where the cap would be.
Now after getting the cap off, I place the stick in the reservoir and rest it on the lip of the reservoir. Easy in and easy out. Been posted on the forum a few times:

Awesome idea. I'd been dealing with a leak for the last 6 weeks of my driving season and it was becoming a real pain to get that dam cap on and off to verify fluid level. Thanks for the tip.
