I'm fabricating all the inner iron bumbers and bumber brackets out of aluminum, that makes huge weight difference, if you don't believe, try taking out the inner rear bumber assembly, it takes your both hands to get it in the air, my new one is so light that I can lift it up with one hand and spin it in the air if I like... No, I'm not Hulk...
Places you want to loose weight are front and high. For instance heads, aluminum radiator, brake calibers, put fibreclass bumbers on etc... :yesnod:
Ditch your power steering and brakes if you have them (your car will have better road feel, besides).
You can replace your stock seats with fiberglass racing seats. You may also want to remove the door panels.
You can also use a glass rear spring, and 80-82 style aluminium pumpkin. While those mods shave weight, unfortunately, that weight is removed from over the rear end.
Does anyone know if it is legal to replace the side and rear windows with lexan or plexiglass on a street-driven car? I know that the front windshield must be made of DoT-certified material, but is it legal to replace the remaining window glass? Glass is surprisingly heavy.
How heavy are our differentials? wonder if the ones from the c4's with alum cases are lighter
fiberglas rear spring
all accersories, do you use the radio?
lexan glass windows
aluminum forged wheels ($$)
bumper suports, frame extensions (danger DANGER )
drilled rotors
tubular control arms
light weight transmission (they make th400's 30lbs lighter then stock)
light weight fly wheel (unless you want to drag :jester )
Or, you can do something a little easier, boost your hp to get the same weight to power ratio :reddevil
