Strongest C3??
What do the have setup wise? Thanks guys.
At least until MONTY get´s his TWIN TURBO setup finished.
Not to forget Twinni from Helsinki I believe ?
There are several really strong C3s here, that make my 76 with 375 HP look like a car that is driven because of its economy.
Top C3s here have around +1200 HP, 1/4 mile I dunno
Maybe someone else will chime in and give you the links to the homepages of merlin and monty, or you can do a search on the forum

Then there's Merlin with an insane and also quite high budget twin whipplecharged 520 (?) which is going to be around 1400 hp on pump gas I believe. He's setting up to be another street driven car, although the words "sleeper" and "subtle" will not be found within miles of Steve :) You can check out his progress at http://www.stevenkamis.com/Cars/MyVette
His car will truly be insane, I think he's within a month or two of completion. With a very torquey 1400 hp obviously he'll be traction limited whatever he runs. This car will be without a doubt one of if not the fastest 3rd gen corvette "street cars" ever. He'll use a 6 speed Richmond till he grenades it into a million parts, then who knows what his twisted mind will decide on...a Lenco?
And there is Monty who is yet another nut, he got bored of his 700 horsepower naturally aspirated 427 small block after only 300 miles, so he decided to drop a twin turbo on it. He's shooting for 1300 horses in a street driven '82. He also has a nice page setup at http://www.montygwilliams.com It looks like his setup should fit under a stock hood, so if yer ever in the Chicago area look out for a white '82 with what, if you didn't know better, sounds like some turbos whistlin' away. Like Merlin, whatever he runs, he'll be traction limited. He's got a 4L80E and should also be on the street within a couple months.

I have 940 desktop dyno horsepower and have been driving the streets with this combination of motor for 3 years. Transmission wise I am on my 5th. The tremec TKO is in there now. I have removed the slicks to try and save the drive train. I have blown 3 700-R4s and 4 torque converters. I found my axles badly twisted this winter on a routine inspection.
I think Monty will be the fastest among us. He has the best transmission and less torque off the line so he will have alot less trouble launching. He will also have the easiest time shifting. His gets my vote.
Merlin will find out when he starts driving his. It will be insane to try and get it off the line regardless of which street tire he uses. Shifting a standard with all that power is too tricky.
Even in third you can not stomp it. It will light the tires and come around.
For overall street cruising I feel the blower is the best all around power adder. The bottom end torque is unreal. The image of a blower whining down the street gets everyone's attention. I have easy starting, 12 mpg anytime, never overheats and unbelieveable torque. Anyone trying to set of blower not a supercharger talk to me. I do believe I know how to make them work, give good mileage and tire melting performance.
So in a recap I feel the 14-71 7 second terror is king, monty is next followed by Merlin with his also insane power and me bring up the back. While I have the power to run in the nines I don't have a hope off the line or until 4th gear when i can finally use the power.
I am trying to picture in my mind, "cruising" along at 110 mph and mashing the gas pedal in 4th (or top) gear...and going VERY sideways.
What does fishtailing feel like at 120 mph?
Monty? How scary does that thing get when you get really sideways in it? Does it give new meaning to the term "throttle steering"?
I'll let you know in a month or so, I haven't driven it yet. We don't dyno until June 8. But I'm going to have the wastegates set pretty soft so that it won't make too much boost on the street, so it shouldn't be that bad. Really, who needs 1200hp on the street? ;)
I have tried to build a car that could live in the streets and use pump gas but how I wish I could have the problem of...Just to much power....I do have a Weiand 6/71 blower but have to much compression in my vette already to use it there...Now I have to build another one for the blower and learn from the above Masters :yesnod:
Yea, I hope to meet some of ya'll in person or see ya blow by me

It will take some kind of C3 to beat that car in the 1/4 :)
