Default brake light problem

Finishing up a restoration on my '69 4spd coupe and running into a brake light issue. All new harnesses have been installed.

-with parking lights on, right taillight will totally go out with brake pedal pressed, left works fine

-without parking lights, right taillight only lights up in single filament, left works fine.

-took grounds off both right lights and grounded directly to frame grinding down paint where eyelets make contact - still doing the same thing.

I'm reallly baffled of what is causing this

I 'm experiencing a similar (maybe the same?) problem. With no lights on, when I press the brake pedal, left is full bright. right side is dimmer, (single filament??),With lights (parking) on, when I press the pedal, Left side is full bright, ride side goes totally dark. Any help appreciated.

I have a '79 4-spd. Sounds like a C3 issue??

is the right side bulb inserted properly? pull the bulb and check the contacts and the ground from the socket to the frame.

I think this is one of he most helpful schematics we've done in while.. it gives you all the needed info without clutter.

I need to upgrade this to include the parking and marker lamps.

Your issue sounds like:

Ground or Parking lamp extension issue
Bulb issue.

Here what happened to mine. When I was restoring it, I painted theight housings. This was causing the lamps to have a poor ground. I took a dremel and ground down all the paint in the cylinder where the bulb and socket mount into. Put everything back together and everything worked great.

So take sandpaper or a dremel and sand down to bare metal on the taillight housings Inside the small opening.
