Default CC headers/exhaust system - any tips?

-getting ready to pull the trigger on the Corvette Central exhaust system with headers and Magnaflow mufflers. Anything I should know before hand? From what I have read here, it sounds like most opinions are positive about the CC system. Just wanted to get any tips or suggestions before doing it. Mine is an '81 with a GM crate motor about 6 years old, existing exhaust is stock.

Thanks
Jim

4spd or auto?

If 4spd you can order an exhaust hanger @$25. I needed to jack up the transmission to get it installed.

I just got it last week on my 75 4spd, very happy with it. More info here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...w-exhaust.html

I didn't install myself but the guy who did said he also had to jack up the trans to get it in.

Just got mine delivered Friday.(80 with small block, auto). Opened the boxes, very impressed with the welds, headers etc. No instructions, not a big deal to me. Started the install, had one dramatic moment when I thought the headers and down pipes would not clear my 8 quart oil pan, but they did, no problem.
The bag with the items for the center hanger took some figuring out. It looks as if the welded tabs get drilled and bolted to the crossmember with a small rubber pad between the tab and crossmember. I stopped there until I hear back from CC. Also, it looks as if I might have a clearance issue with my #3 and #6 plugs being SO close to the header tubes. I didn't really spend too much time examining this issue. I'm running Summit aluminum racing heads with Champion plugs. It may just boil down to finding a plug with a shorter ceramic insulator.
So far, I'd say it's worth the money, especially the shipping cost.

Excellent value, and not to difficult to work with. Put a set in my car after sawing the old set out to do the clutch. At first will seem very quiet, but seems to get a little throatier with age.

Jim are you getting the true duals or with the "Y" and a new Cat?

Thanks,

Mark
