Lately, my car has been running 'poor' at idle but only when it's cold.
I've tuned, re-tuned, and triple tuned the carb.....no difference.
It's inconsistency leads me to my ignition - if the 'points' are just worn a little - could this be my problem ??? ....I've yet to put a dwell meter on it since the points were installed last year. :chevy
Re: Question on points (orig.) ignition.... (verskel)
Could be your coil. Couple of years back I had an intermittent stumble, only when cold that turned out to be a weak coil. Problem disappeared when engine warmed up. Try a Pertronix Flamethrower (looks like stock, but has more juice!). It's fine with stock points. Time to recheck your dwell also. Think BB and SB are same at 28-32 degrees.
I know you tuned/re tuned your carb, but is choke pulling off a little too soon?
