Default 68 door panel installation

Hi Guys I have a question or two. I am getting ready to put new door panels on my 68. Just looked at them and noticed right away they have no crank holes. Second my old panels have what looks like a seperate piece taht goes behind the window crank around the hole. Its a plastic boss that somehow is suppose to attach to the door panel. Cna anyone give me insight on what I should do?

New panels come ready for either power or manual window cars. On the backs of the new panels you'll see two circles molded into the plastic panel which show you where you need to cut the holes for a manual window car. Just mark and use a hole saw to pop out the two holes. The plastic washer behind the crank can be reused from your original panels.

Thanks thats what I thought but Im not sure if the washer is what I was talking about. I tried uploading a photo but it wont work. This isnt the thin one behind the crank this is a large piece about 2 inch dia and about 5/8 or so thick. Is this unique to 68?

Yes that think one is to be reused. They have a few tangs that go through the panel and then get bent over to secure them. O mine the tangs broke off and I just glued them on, and that has worked for a few years now with NP. I believe they are available through most vendors still.

So did the originals. AIM shows where the hole in the panel is opened for window cranks (Note in the lower RH corner).

Trim panel escutcheon and crank installation is shown on sheet K 5.

Order the AIM; it's a handy thing to have around.
