my alt has 2 thinner wires going into a white connector... 1 thinner wire to the bottom of the alt looks like a ground... a thicker wire to the post terminal and the same color and thickness wire with no where to go.....
Ok... My bad... The wire is red... Same thickness and color as the one connected to the post on the back of the alt... And very much has juice to it!!! I touched it to the case of the alt and ZAP!
Nope.. The wire that goes to the post broke... When I unwraped the wires to get at it.. I found it hidden... Its live!! But was not connected to anything and the car was running fine... Over a year I have had it
its possible a PO ran a new alternator wire to starter and left the old one. or there's also a wire for the underhood light that ties into the alt. + wire. someone may have wrapped it up in the harness. just some ideas.
what bugs me is its a live wire... and its like 8 or 10ga... same as the gauge on the post of the alt.... im gonna have to trace it back cause its gonna bug me...
