Default carb flooding!

A strange problem- my carb floods only when cornering at moderate to high rates, with higher RPMs. Just driving through traffic, not a problem. But if I am "hauling the mail" around an entrance ramp, I can watch the air/fuel ration gauge get richer and richer until the engine begins to sputter and die. It clears out to normal after the car straightens out.
A '74 smallblock, manual shift, recently rebuilt Quadrajet, float set to 3/8".

It sounds to me like your float level setting is too high or something is going on with the hinge pin that the float swivels on. I would start there first.

Yep, float level almost for sure - either set wrong or as noted above it's getting "stuck". Worth a look at the needle and seat as well.

What kind of fuel pump?

When you rebuilt it did you put a new float in or the old one?

Stock AC mechanical fuel pump, maybe 3000 miles on it. Maybe six months ago, new plastic float installed in the carb. Been playing with the carb calibrations, using my new air/fuel meter. I've had the air horn off it a jillion times in the last couple months to try different jets/rods/float settings/power valve springs, fuel inlet valves.......
I thought I finally had it as good as it could be, and now this problem rears it's ugly head.
