Okay, so I put a brand parking brake handle assemby in my 80 Corvette. I have about 1,000 miles on this thing and the button popped out of the handle today just like the old one. Can this be fixed? Is there some clip that came loose or came out? It looks like the price is through the roof on these now.
The rod that is sticking out of the handle.. you know the one the button goes on....
Take a pair is side cutters and make a few marks (diggers) on it and then put some glue on the **** and place it back on the rod. It will not come off if you do this, the diggers will give the glue something to bite on.
Here are some pics. Something popped out of place, but I don't know what? I will take the other seat out so I can take it apart and see what happened? Any ideas guys?
Does the button and rod come completely out of the handle?
Does the button still work? If so, I'd just shove it back onto the rod. If it pops back out again, score the rod and glue it back on. If something is messed up lower in the handle mechanism, might need some better pics to see what is going on.

Once the button has been taken off the rod, it's much easier to take it off again later.. some times too easy. It may require some glue or something to keep it on.
Okay guys, I took this apart today and was able to fix the problem. There is a pin with flared ends that holds the "clicker" to the handle that somehow popped out. The pin was still in, but the lower part had somehow popped out? I don't understand how, put I tapped the pin back in with a small dead blow hammer and all is well.
