Default Corvettes At Carlisle Question

This years event kicks off 8/23-25. I'm planning on going. Any tips on times/day to leave would help. Or any other info. Thanks. L8TER, Paul.

I may be in the minority but I find that one good solid day at Carlisle is all that is needed to see the various cars on display/sale, the parts vendors, the junk vendors, etc. I draw up my shopping list beforehand.

My trip is about nine hours. I leave early Friday morning and arrive at Harrisburg about 4-5 in the afternoon. Plenty of time to check-in and head off to some nightlife or any planned parties by Corvette types at local hotels. Leave for the fairgrounds early Saturday morning. Last year we left at 9:00am and the Carlisle exits were backed up to the Interstate: about two hours worth. Everyone is well-behaved but it can be frustrating. There is no longer any public parking on the fairgrounds so be prepared to drop your car on someone's front or back lawn. About $10.00.

About eight hours allows me to see what I wish to see and then back to any local attractions and/or Corvette get-togethers. BTW, there was a Forum tent last year where info is available. And yes you get an opportunity to meet some of the fine people who post here.

I stayed for Sunday last year but I would not do so again. Most of the major displayers say good-bye Saturday evening or by noon on Sunday. So Sunday is a travel day this year.

I booked my hotel last December and at that time there were no vacancies available in Carlisle itself. Same experience last year. I am convinced that those hotel rooms are passed from generation-to-generation and are included in people's wills ;) . My reservation is in a Comfort Inn about 20 minutes away and I find that meets my needs. Just a few comments....

derv3tt3.....Thanks!

Paul, Again, thanks for the useful info! Believe it or not, there are some hotel accomadations not too far from the fairgrounds. Got them through the Carlisle website. Yes, My schedule sounds just as you are planning. If all goes well and this trip comes off, (I hope), I'll contact you prior to leaving so we could say hello in person. PS, Found the air cleaner cover in the Jeggs thanks to the part # you had provided. L8TER, Paul.

I'd recommend on staying on 81 and get off at the Carlisle exit rather than the PA turnpike exit. I went on Saturday from where I live in Essington and the backup on the turnpike is rather long?

OK, Just got resevations conformation #. Yes the hotel is also in Carlisle. We'll be leaving early Friday the 23rd. I would like to meet some Forum Members and am looking foward to it. I'll create a post on a possible meeting place as the date approaches. Perhaps the CF tent, if there is one. L8TER, Paul. :D

People generally meet at the Forum tent around noon on saturday, Met lots of members last year, and saw all their cars. A Lot of parts to look at , easily a days worth..
