Default Corvette letter trim question?

Was wondering if anybody out there has the locations of the corvette lettering for the rear of a 72. My car has had a repair in this area in the past and I cannot find some of the letters to re-establish the mounting holes for the letters. Any help would be great.

Crawl up underneath and see if you can see it from the back side. The holes go all the way thru..

That works provided it's a stock rear panel. The AIM shows the installation of the rear letter kit but does not give dimensions because the holes were in the rear panel when it was shipped to St. Louis.

Ah, so true, but I thought it was worth the suggestion...

Yep, it has been repaired in that area from the back so I cannot see the holes from the back side. I also do have the assembly manual but it does not show the spacing either?

I asked about exactly the same issue a while back. A few people sent me some templates. I'll see if I can find them tonight, pass them on.

A local Corvette shop made up a template from another body. They took a strip of wide masking tape, aligned the edge with the bottom of the panel, marked the ends referencing the tail light opening for side to side alignment. From there they used a pencil to mark the holes. Note, the holes are not all the same size. On each letter, I think one is slightly larger. If you go this route, measure the size of the pins on the letters and note the size on your template.

There is a member that can e-mail a template that you can print out or I can make another one off my old panel and snail mail it to you.

Thanks guys for all the help. DZRick I did found that old thread with the guy that has the files for the two papers you tape together to make the template, and I have contacted him but have not heard anything back. Also I do have about have the of the letters showing on the passenger side so I can get the template placed correctly I just need the spacing for the rest.

Thanks

PM me if you don't hear back about the other template.

I have no idea where my letters are but I'll do what I can if you end up still needing something, hell right now I'm not even sure where the panel is.
