Dirty Spark Plugs?
I recently put headers on. Since then, i have noticed a little popping noise in the exhaust. Almost like mini back fires. I had to remove the spark plugs to get the headers on. I am thinking that maybe I got some grease or something on the plugs and that is what is causing the "mini backfires"? Am I thinking right?

If you went from a stock manifold to headers, you have made your engine breathe easier. If you haven't adjusted your carb after this, you are probably running lean and along with less backpressure you are getting popping out the exhaust.

Ok, that makes sense. I didn't think of that. A carb cleaning/adjusting is next on my list. I just finished the exhaust and mufflers today. I was waiting on that before I had the carb tuned. Thanks for the info.

"Adjusting" the carb means jet changes....
The screws just affect the idle mixture
Also, look up how going to headers means no more functioning exhaust crossover at the heads. This also affects exhaust sound, just like a crossover in the exhaust pipes does.
