I want to make sure im putting these on correctly.
This seems to be the only way they fit in like this but is this right? I haven't drilled any holes and it looks like I need to make to cut where that screw is so that is becomes flush.
But I'm just concerned about the height gap is that how its supposed to be.
I can't tell what's in your pic. I thought the Eckler's conversion was bolt up and required no cutting. My advice would be to call Eckler's customer services and ask before cutting/drilling anything.
Yes, that gap is correct, the housing lays on the metal lip. There are rivets holding the metal support to the fiberglass along the front. You may need to grind a little clearance into the headlight housing to clear rivets and lay flush to the metal lip. After centering it correctly, mark the housing through the holes in the metal support lip on both ends of the fiberglass housing. You also need to align with holes in the rear metal nose support. It uses the same mounting holes as the pop up headlight housing. Duct tape will keep it in place while you mark holes for drilling. Test for alignment after each hole is drilled. Great thing about fiberglass, if you make a mistake, it is easy to fill and relocate.
If what you are calling the header bar is behind the headlight opening and in front of the hood opening, yes, it is supposed to be bonded to the fiberglass. The headlight housings bolt to four places, two in front and two in back of the headlight openings. They are the same places the OEM headlights mounted. If the header bar became unattached, you will need to secure it in place before mounting the fixed headlight housing. The lights will not hold anything, they are held to the bulb cups that are secured to the housing with adjuster screws and springs. I hope this is clear and helps.
Before bonding anything, be sure both sides are clean and rust free.
BTW...it is the big holes on the front that the housing are mounted to. After identifying the front holes, the rear two are easier to locate.
