Hello all,
Realizing that Bubba decided to route the main dash wiring harness UNDER my steering column, I removed the column and leaped into my dash harness and I'm finding some disturbing scenarios. Lot's of high-heat, thermal runaway incidences caused by bad connections on high amp wires. I'm addressing these, but I have some questions.
First:This was plugged into my ACC port on my fuse panel. Is this factory? Or did Bubba combine these two connections? One wire goes to the relay/junction under my center console and the other wire goes to my heater/blower switch.
Second:Anybody know where I can get just this plug? No wires or connector, just the plastic plug housing. This is the connector to my heater/blower switch. I know.....yikes!
You may wany to consider replacing the harness. 40 plus year old wiring can be a ticking time bomb even without peolple poking at over the years. I know wilcox has a sale right now, I'm in the process of replacing the dash, engine and forward harnesses in my 74 and you wouldn't beleive some of the things I found. Best move I've made so far.
That double plug is a factory thing. no bubba there at all.
Try Doc Rebuild for that connector, or maybe "lectric limited".
I'll look when I get home too. I've got a couple of harness that are pretty much scrap, but still have a bunch of good connectors.
Thanks TimAT. PM me If you find a good blower fan switch with A/C, I'll buy it from you.

Yeah Safire74, I've vacillated for awhile about a new harness. Ultimately I decided against it for the simple fact that my car was in a good storage environment for over 10 years of its life and was barely driven. The wires are quite healthy except where the connections were poor and the connectors over heated. additionally, I'm going to be butchering this wiring harness by cutting and taping all center bezel lights and connectors because of the Autometer gauges I'm putting in. I wouldn't want to do that to a new harness right away.
