Default Big block intake, will this fit ??

I know the torker intake manifolds will fit under the stock big block hood.

Been along time since I had one of those on a Vette...last one was on a '71 with an L-88 hood. My gut tells me it won't fit under a stock one..almost positive. had plenty of room in my '57 Chevy though! Was real tight under a flat '68 Camaro hood.

Those were goofy little intakes...but ran pretty darn well on 427/454's!

They usually cost $75-$100 at swap meets here in the states for a nice one.

Thanks Jim, good to hear they work ok, only a little 427.
Not going as good as it hoped, have bought some hooker max flow inserts, as opinion seems to be the reverse flows are way restrictive, and I'm looking at changing out the LS6 intake, sure that not helping either!

Is that manifold a current Edelbrock product? If so, compare the "A" and "B" dimensions from the Edelbrock site (or measure them) with that for the oval-port version of the Edelbrock Torker 2, which definitely does fit under the stock bb hood.

No it is not Current but a darn good intake in its time.

richiev88 I will tell you what. I have on in an Oval Port. As you did not mention if you have Square Ports or Oval. But if you would like to give it a shot just pay for shipping and I will send it to you to try out. If you like it then I will sell it to you in the lower end neighborhood of what Jim Said.

WOW New Zealand I missed that one lol. But the offer still stands. But I think the shipping will be horrible.

The Weiand Stealth might be a better bet. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-8018/?rtype=10 But as size goes I think you are in the same ball park as the LS-6 Intake. Sorry been too long since I held one.

Wow, thanks, generous offer, thanks, yep freight is a killer for us down under!!
Times any US price by 3 then thats usually close to the cost ( our dollar is good though against the US, in year past was under half the value!!)

Ha....I have a '77 square port version sitting in my garage. Definitely won't fit under standard hood.

No it wont fit.

Is your motor rec or oval port? I assume it is rec as you have the evil LS6 low rise intake. Whats your engine specs.

Rec ports, yep fantastic low rise does not really work with my combo.
427, 10:8 comp, brodix race rite heads 294cc runners, isky solid, Z33, 250 @50, 108, .560 lift valve, msd pro billet, no vac adv, holley 800 d/p. sidepipes, 2 1/8th primarys, 4 inch collectors
I only really bolted on the LS6 as to get up and running, was running a weiand single plane on this engine previously ( not in a vette)

My sincerest recommendation is to bite the bullet and get the L88 hood and run a rec port dual plane by Edelbrock, Weiand or GM. it will be miles ahead of anything that fits the factory hood. I persisted with the low hood but eventually gave in.

A later low rise version of the torquer or old holley street dominator (both oval port will fit your hood but not sure if the port flanges will cover the port. I know they dont cover the monstrous factory 320cc port but may cover yours. If you fit runner extensions they may be suitable options.

Offenhauser make a low rise rec port divided single plane but I suspect it is still a bit high.

A factory LS6 manifold wont work well with all that cam and header dia.

This is what I'm running on my 502. The air cleaner touches the underside on the L88 hood.

Yes, true.
I'm torn, by the time i splash for a L88 hood, will be close to $2000 NZ$ landed, tax, freight ect, another $700 for a manifold, then really carb is ready for an up date, probably close to $4000 NZ$.
I love the kinsler cross ram injection, looks like it would fit under BB hood too.
I know its more expensive again but it does excite me way more than carb and manifold does...........

I know the feeling. Im in Australia so my hood cost a bomb but less than you pay. I too fell in love with the kinsler cross ram till their quote brought me back to earth.
