I finally have my Hooker headers and JCL sidepipes installed (mostly). They sound awesome!!! Can't wait to get out onto the road and open it up a little. Still need just a little more help though. For those of you with Hooker headers, what on earth did you use to tighten down the back (toward firewall) bolt on each side? The bolts are too close to the tubes to get a socket on them and not enough room to turn a wrench on them either. What did the rest of you use? I don't know what the heck Hooker was thinking when they put those bolt holes right up against the tubes.
Oh, and from my previous post about the broken manifold bolts (had an "easy-out" broken off in one, I burned through more cobalt and titanium bits than I care to count over a two week period. The one thing that started chewing it out was a burr. Thought I'd pass that along since it seems to be a common problem.
I'll try to get it cleaned up and take some pics tomorrow to post.
For the 2 bolts closest to the firewall I used a short box/open end wrench. It's a royal pain and you have to keep flipping the wrench making small turns but it will eventually get there. Had to do both from under the car :mad

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to pick one up tomorrow and see where it gets me.

Mine were a little less expensive because I went with black instead of coated or chrome. It all came in around $1K or so.

In hind sight, studs probably would have been a much smarter way to go. Whenever I have to take them off for any reason I may go ahead and make that change. Definitely will when I can afford to change to aluminum heads. Thanks for the advice.

That did the trick!!! Had my wife run to Sears for a short wrench while I was helping a neighbor change transmissions in his Bronco. Only took a few minutes and I was able to get at it from the top.

Price depends on the finish (black, chrome or coated). Check his website and/or contact him for specifics at http://www.spiralturbobaffles.com/
Thanks again. Couldn't get pics today for the above reason. Will get them posted soon. I promise.
Another C3 with sidepipes. I don't remember having any problems with my header bolts but maybe a small block and BB are different. My #1 spark plug is a $%^&*(* though.
Also, I just put on the JCL's but only fired it up for a bit. Nice sound and the exhaust smoke was noticably less. C3ya
One thing I have used in the past for header bolts. In those two rear holes, use bolts with allen heads on them. Should be pretty easy to find and works great.
