Little different LED tail lights
I have been looking for an alternative to the stock rear lights to comply with UK light spec and this is what I have come up with.
These are the LED lights: http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/1...Indicator_RL35
and few more: http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/category/...lusters,b.html
Unfortunately the lights do not come with white LED’S for reverse light, so I have settled for Amber as my reverse lights. (My reverse lights are Inner middle)
Off Mode:
Tail Lights ON:
Indicator/Hazards:
Brake/Fog light:

I did have to modify my harness, but in order to use US-spec. cars in Europe you need to modify the harness anyway. (we have to have Amber turn lights)
Cut off the original light plugs and then individually wired each feed for the rear lights, turn lights and reverse lights.
Cut the brake light feed white wire directly from the brake switch (have to do this as the brake and turn lights share the same feed).
Once the feed from the brake switch is cut (white wire) solder a new line in to the cut white wire and run to the back to power the brake lights.
All cars after 1980 must have rear fog light, so had to run another line to power rear fog light. Inner outer circle.
Also had to add two more ground wires and use LED convertor/resistor to power the turn lights.
I can go in to more details if you are interested

Can you pull the light apart to replace the amber LEDs with white/clear LEDs? I would like to replace my backup lights with these and wire in the brake lights to the outer rings, but I'd prefer the white backup.

Or, as an alternative you could just install some high watt halogen backup bulbs. Have them on my DD with 20% rear window tint, and I can see just fine out back at night.

Also, I would like the outer ring to light up!

But,
You can wire your brake lights to the outer rings.

I was toying with an idea:
I was going to use a ring LED for the brake light and then find a suitable LED light for the backup, keeping the original light covers. I might have to use the brake/turn covers, cut out the center, and replace it with the clear backup one.
Ring LEDs:

It will take me some time, but I'll let you know how it goes.
Thoughts?
