Greetings BKbroiler

Nice to see you are monitoring this site. Trooper clocked me at 100 mph and I was cruising at 100 mph. Still want to hear from someone who owned a vette with my same specs and pushed it to the limit. Not interested in mathematics. Interested in factual standings.

Take it up a notch. No air, power windows, power brakes, power locks. Coupe. All play a factor in performance. Yes, stock tires.

I went 140 in my 77 with an auto and 255/60 tires.
It was very loud and I couldn't see anything so I slowed down.

Hey...do C2 convertibles count?

140'ish in the 1/4 mile...been well on past that once I shift to 5th!

Installing twin turbos now...should be fun next time out!

Years ago a buddy and I had gone to the Street Machine Nationals in DuQuin Illinois in my '68 SS/RS Camaro. I had my favorite 427 in it with a 4 speed and the 3.31's I installed for the road trip (normally 4.10's or 4.56's). I also had a killer N20 system on it...and a full bottle in anticipation of weekend antics. Well...Saturday night came and we hadn't needed to crack the bottle all weekend. So we got this wild idea to test it during a top speed run! Understand this is with N50x15 bias plys and some Volkswagen skinnies on a real cool set of Cragar's.

So we rolled along in 3rd...nailed it and hit the juice, short shifted around 6500 into 4th and hung on. We literally ran it until the bottle emptied which seemed to take a LONG time. Headers banged the pavement everytime we came down. Unreal looking back.

Not exactly sure how fast we were going...last time I looked at the Monster Tach we were going past 7000 rpm in high gear and still pulling hard. Doing the math put that in the very high 160's at that point. I can tell you Camaro's get pretty light in the front end with 90/10 shocks.

The funniest thing is that here we were 1500 miles from home in a car that we drove up and was our only passage back home to be at work Monday morning...and we're out pounding that poor thing for all it was worth and it never even dawned on us that something might break that we couldn't fix out of our Craftsman toolbox in the trunk!

JIM

The race begins on your way to the track on the frw in your pickup and car trailer pulling a 69 camaro as you pull up beside the crew cab car hauler with the 65 coupe vette setting at an angle on its flat ramp.

Mathematics don't lie, speedometers and tachometers do.
