well since i have the hood off mine, i weighed it just now- 42 lbs
i've tried doing it myself and it's hard to support one side while you remove the bolts from the other. anyways, i didn't succeed by myself. best to have an assistant
I needed assistants to get the hood off, but now that the hinges/bolts are disconnected I can tilt it and lift it (very carefully) and move it off the car. Works out since I haven't a garage.
I'd believe the 42 lbs as an accurate number, the sound deadening might add or subtract ~3lbs but otherwise you should be very close to that number. Awkward to move alone though, and as I said above, removal requires more people.
I was able to remove the hood on my 76 by myself fairly easily. I did however need help getting the bolts lined back up when putting it back on. Just couldn't quite do that myself.
The hood on my 77 is fairly light but just a bit bulky so I had someone help me remove it and put it back on, just so that I wouldn't damage it in any way. I wouldn't try doing it alone just so that you won't accidentally bump it or scratch it anywhere.

My son is 12. Since I know the weight I can have him help me take it off and I can paint it off the car.
When I am done, I can have him bolt it while I hold it.
