No metal flake won't hide anything. In fact only thing that will hide it is to do it right by wet sanding till surface is smooth with primer.I just painted mine and for certain reasons felt i needed it painted that weekend.Well now I can sure see what needed more prep work.
The lighter the car, the less likely you will see body flaws. Having said that, however, why have any body flaws? You can block sand the car to perfection and then....paint it and you'll have a great body.....and paint job. I'm only assuming you haven't painted the car yet. If that is so....block sand the car yourself, fender by fender, section by section until it is RIGHT....or until you're happy with whatever flaws are left. Then....paint it.
Paint is not meant to hide any flaws. Trust me, you'll see um, and it'll drive you banannas even if most people don't. I painted my car for the first time and I see every little imperection although I get car looks great from most onlookers and it does look pretty nice. Paint is not meant to cover flaws, often it'll just enhance them and make them more noticeable.
I plan on fixing anything and everything I can see/feel. However, there is always something that I will miss. I know the darker the color, the better you can see the mistakes. I was just curious if the flakes in the paint would create a slight optical illusion of semi-perfection.
