My neighbour traded his '06 roadster for a 1987 Buick Grand National with 7600 original miles. All original, even the tires. The car was kept in the family for years in a garage after the owner passed away. Twas a nice find, indeed!
Went to start it today and the battery seemed a tad low.
Guys this is a work in progress. The battery is a year and a month old and the Alt. will charge at 40 amps and I still had to drag out the battery charger.

Oh by the way if I take a picture from the sunny side, all you see is reflection and beams of light.
This picture is taken from the north looking due south at 1:22pm.
The sun should be close to over head.
I'm a little curious about that choice of wording, too. It doesn't seem to make any sense in the context of the post, could it be a typo?
Keep the shiny side up!

Eh..just colorful speech. Nothing implied. So it seems that there may still be quite a few cars worth all the sweat and tears if you are willing to look and willing to pay.
Bought my 80 in January on Craig's List for $2750.00 Blown engine, sat outside for 10 years with no T-tops. Since I'm a fan of the 80-82 body style, (keep in mind I had a 69 427 auto car a million years ago)I thought it would be a good project for myself (I'm a marine mechanic that works on everything from diesel megayachts to offshore raceboats) and my two 21 year old sons. They helped me for a combined 1 hour during the initial teardown. Now all they want to know is when will the car be done. Thank God I'm one of those guys that have the fear of being the one that abandon's that project, leaving it for one of you vultures (joking) to pick up. Blueprinted 355 with 500+hp, stripped and painted engine compartment, searching this forum for the items I need, getting feedback prior to my purchases, I would'nt trade this for the world.
I really don't think there's much bigotry with the C3 crowd. C2's yes, definitely C1's.
I knew ahead of time that this was not going to be a 50k car. I knew ahead of time that Corvettes don't "hook up" like some F body cars. I knew ahead of time all the ***** jokes my wife would throw at me.
Bigots? No. All of you that have advised me on this forum have done so with dignity and respect.
Ralph youll finish it restorations are journeys
Lots of joy and lots of grief too lol
See if the suspension settles some, put some miles on it.
Then drop it down some if it still needs it will look great.
made the mistake of not letting it settle did the loweting right off th ebat now everything rubs lol.
As was said, to buy a C3 that is in good shape will have you ahead of the game f/ sure. I bought mine f/ $8000. eight years ago. A one owner and in next to perfect shape.(from my father-in-law) There are C3s out there, but seems to me that there aren't as many as one would think. I honestly don't see a super amount of them around on the road. I have seen afew here and there in driveways which one could probably get f/ a price, and all complete, but overall, not a super amount. Not to say that you couldn't find enough to pick from if you didn't mind traveling. I'd want one from a hot and dry climate state. Yes, pay a greater amount and get one that's complete and in quite good shape, and save the headaches and money in the long run. Good Luck!

The shadow covers up a lot of the detail, especially on such a dark car. What are ya gonna do, right? I did notice the passenger door open, now I know why! Very nice 'vette!!!

Oh, I think I get it. Something along the lines of "Those resto guys think they're soooo superior.....", right?
I just bought a 69 coupe that has been sitting in a dry garage for 31 yrs.all original and all numbers matching 350/350 4 spd. 61k on it,needs paint,98% complete,so I say they're out there yet.

You don't get off that easy on a thread like this my friend..........pictures please......
I read a sunday newspaper article decades ago. It stated that 10% of any car's model year production are lost every year due to accident, theft, rust, fire, etc. If that's true, then my '69 ragtop, one of 16,633 made that year, is one of ~ 600 remaining. Who knows?
I've read this too but Corvettes would not be a consumable car like say a Lumina. People pay much more for them and usually keep them as a fair weather driver/ second-third car. As a whole Corvettes travel far fewer miles per year than the average car. Owners have the resources the buy them and maintain them as well. I once saw a picture of a motorcycle salvage yard with motorcycle frames and what not stacked twenty feet high. The caption at the bottom said, "there is not a Harley Davidson part in any of this". The same is true with Corvettes. People will keep them alive if at all possible. Chevelles bring a higher price now than their corresponding year corvettes because they were destroyed in mass. I'm just saying the 10% rule doesn't apply Corvettes.
A guy had the garage next to my grandmother in her apartment building, had a 70 LT1 convertible daytona yellow, black and black it had 80k on it. He parked in late 79 with a blown clutch guy moved out never new what happen to the vett . There out there !
