Default Tire size Chart

Searching the Web I have found a number of Tire size Charts but there is always something wrong with them. Most of the Big Tire Stores only cover the Tires they have in stock. The Manufactures sites are the worst, they sometimes can't even find there own tire that I have now. I found one site that had all kinds of tire sizes and I thought I had it made untill I found that no body made most of the sizes. Any body know of a good one?

Use the Tire Rack for most sizes. Coker Tire's web site is a good reference for classic tire sizes.

You can always calculate it yourself.

Take the section width (255, for example) and divide it by 25.4 (number of millimeters in an inch) then multiply the result by the aspect ratio (60 = .60) and multiply by 2 for two sidewalls, then add the rim diameter.

so, a 255/60/15 (optional stock size on C3's) tire would be:

(255/25.4 x 0.6 x 2) + 15 = 27.047 inches

Other common tires this height are 235/55/17, 255/50/17, and 255/45/18

The problem with the all in one tire calculators is that some sizes, normaly the size you want, aren't even made.

I also like this tool:

I usually go to the Tire Rack site, pick out a tire size, manufacturer I'm familiar with, and check/print out the spec sheet. Quite easy comparing other tire specs, like O.D, section and tread width from there.

Thank You. This works well. However I see that diffrent manufactures rate the same Tire size diffrently and I assume that that the tires themselves are in deed diffrent. 355 35 17 works out to be 26.78 wich works well. However Discount Tire rates this Michelin tire size at 26.2 over a 1/2 inch descrepency. Considering that one must take a second Morgage to buy one of these Tires it would be nice to know what your getting.
