Got a parts delivery today and one of the items I ordered was a Cross Shaft Frame Bracket. This is the bracket that bolts (or welds, depending on the style you buy) to the frame. Since my car was originally an auto, I needed one of these for the conversion to stick. The only one Zip carried was the bolt on version, which is fine with me. I can't weld
What I was wondering was where EXACTLY does this gizmo get welded/bolted to the frame? I assume it is where the frame curves towards the back of the car. Looking at that area, there is a horizontal oval hole on the side of the frame. There is also a horizontal oval hole on the bracket. I was wondering if these holes are supposed to line up? Here is a pic of the bracket:
Has anyone ever mounted one of these things or do you have a good picture of where it should be located? Any help would be appreciated.
DJ Dep,
I am so sorry, we had the CL-205 listed as a bolt on.
It is a weld-on, the CL-206 is a bolt on. If you could contact me at
1-800-962-9632 ext 240
We can get this resolved for you, I have the CL-206 in stock.
We are in the process of changing the listing for this.
I used the bolt on bracket on my 76.I lined up the Z bar and drilled the holes where it needed to go.Then used self tapping bolts with loctite to attach the bracket to the frame. After a few trips I had to keep adjusting the clutch as the pedal always didn't feel right.Another Forum member V8RANGER posted he had clutch issue's on his manual swap and found the bracket was bent causing the clutch problems.
You can clearly see the bracket is bent! this is mine after a few months of use.The metal in these brackets is of poor quality..

V8RANGER was fabricating these brackets for those that wanted to change those crappy ones out....

Tom: It's no sweat and I appreciate the offer. At this point I'm not sure which one I will use and Corvette Central already shiipped the bolt on version. I'd rather have both in case one isn't useable.

That's okay Gene. I appreciate the offer. I have the weld-on bracket and I think I will probably use that one. I will also buy that heavy duty bolt on one if it's still available.
