My vette is a 71 and im trying to get the motor in and get it running. its my first car so its going rather slow.

my question is where is the pcv valve? is it an inline valve or is it in the valve covers? there is somthing on the valve covers but is that just the fire trap or is the valve in there too? thanks for ur help

That is your pcv valve. It is usually in a rubber gromet in the valve cover. If shaken it will rattle because of a steel ball inside. You could look at it as a check valve. This is important to an engines idle caracteristics. Get the right one and replace it.

There should be a rubber grommet in the valve cover. The PCV valve pushes into that grommet, and a rubber line goes from the PCV to the manifold vaccum on your carburator. On the other valve cover, there should be a tube that runs from that hole to the air cleaner.
