Interior out, ready for insulation install. Question!
Okay so I have gutted the interior with the exception of the dash and the overhead trim parts. I have a question for you guys with the C3 knowledge.
My car is a 1981. So behind the passenger seat in the well screwed to the inside of the well on the wall facing the passenger seat are these 3 electrical blocks. What are they?
As you will see by the first pics they are put in with sheet metal screws and frankly it looks like a Bubba installation. I seriously hope GM wasn't this sloppy.
1: Taken through back window to give better idea of location
2: How they are secured to the inside wall of the well.
3 & 4: Blocks/boxes themselves
Just pics of the gutted car. You guys should have seen the Bubba job on the after market stereo install with the 6 disc changer in the back area. Wires hacked into and electrical tape connections........
Lets not forget the block of wood used to support the back of the stereo or 5ft of additional CD player remote control cable bundled up and stuffed in there because it was too long to leave loose in the car.
In the jack box from outboard to inboard
Delay relay for wipers
Power antenna relay
Theft deterrent electronic control module
Great! Thanks man!!
So when I bought the car it had some goofy magnet I had to hold over a spot beside the ashtray to get the car to start, thats has been done away with.
Do I need that theft deterrent electronic control module back there any longer? If I remove it is there any other steps I need to take to get the car to run?
The ignition cutout relay is attached to the console support next to the shifter. Thats the white module held on to the support with one screw. It's part of the theft deterent system. Mine failed and the car would not start. I had to track it down and bypass it. Thats probably what the magnet was for!
The 81 factory alarm system has a starter interlock. If the alarm is tripped, the car will not start until after the system is reset. My advice would be to leave the factory system intact and ensure it is in working order.

Okay, guess its not hurting anything anyway so why mess with it, thanks.
