Wipers not smooth across the windshield...

Wipers not smooth across the windshield...
Today the ole Vert got caught in a terrific rainstorm while I was driving her around. Anyway, when I turned on the wipers, they worked but they weren't smooth. They skipped across the windshield...it didn't matter if it was on low speed or high speed. What would cause this? The blades are brand new (about a month old). The tension of the wiper blade against the windshield does not seem excessive. Is the motor going south?

Try cleaning the windshield with glass cleaner and a brand new razor blade. This should remove any foreign objects, like tree sap etc., that may be on the windshield. Since most of our cars don't see rain a thorough cleaning of the windshield will usually alleviate the problem.

Check the bellcrank where the transmission levers are bolted to it and make sure there is not any play.
Check the transmission themselves and possibly lubricate.
Make sure the bellcrank (where the levers bolt together) has plenty of lubrication.
This almost has to be a linkage or wiper blade issue, the motors are very resilient. Could it be the motor.. possible but doubtful.
