I can't think of any major problems after all it was intended to replace the SBC in the C4. You might skip over to the ZR-1 side of this site.

It has been done before, I saw the car in youtube a couple of years ago, will have to searcg for it.
Edit : I didnt find the C3, but I found that it has happened to a C2 as well! :

It's been done, I know I've seen pics of one. It takes some serious massaging to get it in there, that engine didn't even fit very well in the C4 engine bay. As small as their cars are, Lotus likes to make fat engines.

It world be great as a novelty, but the Ls endings are cheaper, smaller, and lighter.

I've seen one here. Different motor mounts, changing the brake booster, changing radiator support, wiring, cold air intake and then there is the transmission.
I think a LS is a better swap for the money, although I do like the DOHC engines more.
+ parts are a lot of $$$$$
