Well, in the 70's, it was really popular to take your "abode" with you. Vans were outfitted to live in, etc. Putting a camper on your Corvette would take that to another level. 
Now, from an engineering perspective, there needs to be another "slave" wheel under the rear of that camper.

Helped a guy do a wagon conversion back in 73-74, lots of work is involved in it, interior is a pita. I also think the red one was well done,nice ride.

I threw one of those kits away about 20 years ago. (the blue type shown)
A local dealer here bought one of these in the 70's and was going to do a conversion. They bailed on it and in the 90's called and asked me if I wanted it... I figured I'd spare a car somewhere down the road.
