71 wiper door wont open

71 wiper door wont open
When I turn on the wipers, the wiper door opens about and inch and stops. I shut the switch off and it closes normally. Never had any problems with this before. Any thoughts? Nothing has been disconnected or changed from when it was working.

Hi c62,
Perhaps you can remove the black rubber plug in the forward side of the door actuator. You can then put a screwdriver in the opening and carefully push on the actuator's diaphragm. If you can easily push the door open you'll know the mechanism is free and the problem is a control or servo problem.

Working great now. It was the rubber seal (witches hat). The coned shaped portion ripped itself from the base. Couldnt see it unil I took it apart. Its got to be the lowest cost repair I have ever done. 30 min and 12 dollars to fix it. Works awesome now.
