Can someone tell me if I want straight or angled plugs if I get new heads. I have headers installed, dont know what kind. Also, does someone know the compression ratio if i go with either 64cc or 70cc chambers for my stock L48 vs the 76?cc stock heads?
Also, the performer rpm are "non emissions" heads. What are the implications of this. Do they just bolt on. Is non emissions just that I can not run an EGR? I am planning on using a non egr intake? Could someone go into some detail on this.
Dolla, in fact I have been disappointed with my Edel heads in the overall affect on the engine, over and above the previously ported/gasket matched iron heads of earlier heavy castings 993's.....I suggest that you rework your present heads for nearly the same performance, doubtful you will see any differance on the street....
biggest gains are going to DPFI, and cheapest way to do that is an old L98 setup from a mid 80's vette/F body.....
You are correct in saying that the RPM head does not have a port for an egr. They will work great besides that. I'm using them on my 78 with a comp 268H and it runs real strong..... 12.77@107.3
I too was disappointed with my Edelbrock RPM heads on my old engine. They didn't make much more power than my original camel back heads. I would spend an extra 200 bucks and get AFR 190's.
I got the 64cc heads / angled plugs. I think you want angled if you have headers. I have after market pistons which make a diff on the compression but I think I am running between 9.5-10 compression ratio with the flattop 4 valve relief pistons. Sorry I don't know anything about emissions stuff.
