When my window is raised to the top, the regulator spring has no tension on it and comes off when the door is shut. Is it possible for these to wear out, or is it that I just don't have the tension set right?
It is out of a 73 on the passenger's side. Any help is appreciated.
i had the same problem on my 82.i did not want to take off the regulator .On the post for the outside of the spring i put on a spacer .Anything that will make the post bigger to put more pressure on the spring will work.I used a piece of round plastic with a hole in it the size of the post .This may not be a factory fix but it has worked for several months.
Pete - yes, I had looked at your photos (in couple posts people put your pics) several times before posting. I can't see that mine was any different from yours at that same point in the travel of the regulator. At the raised point though, the spring is simply way too loose.
Sixfooter - can you elaborate? Are you saying to push the window one turn too far up an then install the spring?
Terry - sounds good. This line of thinking is what made me wonder if the spring didn't have the right tension.
Thanks to everyone for their replies - keep them coming, love this forum,
