First you said my Vertex OAC was locked out...that it has NO advance system. Blatantly untrue.

Now you're saying my mechanical advance is SET at 28 (crank) degrees. Also blatantly untrue. The only thing 'SET' is the total amount of mechanical advance. It is variable up to 28 crankshaft degrees. That's why it's called an advance curve. I had my choice of 10, 12 or 14 magneto degree curves. On advice from the speed shop owner in '75 I chose 14.

This quote taken from the current Taylor Vertex website:
Vertex Model OAC
Model OAC is available for 4,6& 8 cylinder engines and can be supplied with or without a tach drive and with or without automatic advance.
By your recent statements, it seems you're not at all familiar with the type of ignition system I'm using.

You are right! You have me all jacked up on how I interpited what you were saying. So I now understand that you have 28 at idle and the type mag you run has an additional mechanical advance of some value.

If you put a timing light on it your timing is @ 28 degrees at 900 rpm.

What is it when you are at 3200 rpm?

This thread has gone far enough off topic because I thought it prudent to correct your falsehoods about my Vertex OAC magneto.

If you feel the need to compare everything you know about my mag against everything I know, start a new topic please.

This thread needs to get back on track with
Is 17° enough mechanical advance?
