Hey all, i'm sure someone here probably knows the answer to this in a heartbeat...
A good friend of mine just purchased a 72 Vette, 350, AT. We got it running and driving pretty decent but there are a ton of gremlins. In particular right now, the brake lights, turn signals, hazard lights...
So... turn on the lights, no tail lights, hit the brakes, no brake lights. Turn the left turn signal on no turn signal, but the RIGHT brake light comes on if brake pressed. Same for the right turn signal, no signal on the right but the LEFT brake light comes on if brake pressed.
Just replaced the turn signal switch, same exact problem, no change at all.
What do I do? I'm drawing a blank.
Additional info: It is a T/T column, previous owner had it completely taken apart and we got a box of parts to the column. The hazard switch is not installed, I have the button and metal piece that it's screwed into but no idea how it goes into the column.
I could also use some help getting this column back together if anyone has some good pics/instructions.
your friend needs to get a 72 AIM and service manual. Sounds like a lot of ground problems. Check the A pillar behind the driver's side ac vent for the ground there and also clean up the grounds on the tail light housings and rear wire harness, change the bulbs or make sure they are working and you should see positive results. JIM SHEA .... search for his name here and you will find everything on the column info!
I had all kinds of weird light issues with my '74 after I put the body back on. It turned out that my hazzard switch was halfway between on and off. I think you might need the hazzard switch installed.
