I have a 75 and after sitting for 5 days I went to raise the lights to clean them using the bypass switch under the dash and nothing happened. I had to start the car and rev her a couple of times to get enough vac to open them. Is that normal or do I need to start chasing a leak?? thanks in advance.
With the vacuum system in 'decent' condition (no major leakages; all components functional), vacuum can leak off fairly quickly. Not many new C3's would hold vacuum for more than a day. If all your vacuum systems work when engine is running, consider yourself either lucky or good (if you did the diagnosis/repair work).
It was my understanding that it would only hold enough residual vacuum for perhaps one action (headlights and/or wiper door) and only for a limited time, i.e. a few hours.
I certainly wouldn't worry over it, and would invest my worry time in things like "How can I make this thing haul a$$?!"
