No, 68 and 69 BB's did not have those individual tubes. I know that midyear BB's had them, but I don't remember which ones....65, 66, 67, or all 3 years. Chuck
Pretty certain that the 1965-66 big block Corvettes used the individual "barrel" shields... 1965 definitely did and I'm pretty certain that 1966 big blocks did as well. The 1967-70 big block cars did not use them. The NCRS TIM&JG claims that the individual spark plug heat shields began to show up now and again during the 1971 model year, but to be honest, I don't recall ever seeing an original 1971 car with these shields... Have you?
For the 1972 model year, the individual shields were again standard fare on big block Corvettes... This carried through until the end of 1974 when big block installation in Corvettes ended.
