Does anyone have input on the 1981-82 Hypertech power chips and/or 1981-82 HEI 7-pin Flame-Thrower Ignition Module? Looking to increase performance for my stock 350 "cross-fire" fuel injection engine, electronically. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Running great now. Maybe a little rough at idle, but strong when the pedal hits the metal.
Some years ago I worked on a Camaro with the cross-fire injection- someone had stuffed a little more cam into it and it was running like **ap. I got a chip custom made for it - not entirely sure now it wasn't Hypertech (i don't remember for sure). They got all the info on the cam, idle vacuum, timing, and setup a custom PROM for it. Made loads of difference- no more loading up, pulled strong.
No idea if it would make much difference on a stock from GM engine.

I have a little bit of cam in this one also, but I do not know the specs.
Upgraded to a Hypertech chip in my '91 TransAm GTA - made a noticeable performance increase over stock. Much quicker, better shift points, no decrease in gas mileage. This is with the 5.7 liter "Corvette" engine.
Last time I checked all thenhypertech chip did was change the fuel/air mix at wot and allow a 180* thermostat. May be different for the crossfier systems. I know a lot of guys run hotrod ignition systems, I have been one of them. But I have never seen any real performance increases from them. Its pretty hard to beat GMs HEI system.
JMHO YMMV
