Default Fuel Injection Question for 81

I have a 81 and thinking of going with the fast fuel injection system. My thoughts are, buying a 82 fuel assembly but changing the fuel pump to a 86 pump. This way I can get the pressures needed and have a system inside the tank.

I have been told by others, When going to fuel injection that the factory lines work fine.

GM crate motor Fast Burn 385 HP 385 Touque.

Just started buying the side pipes

Any thoughts?

I just ordered the same parts last night for my 79. My thoughts? I hope it works for both of us! 82 sender, 86 pump, 86 TPI, replace lines where needed, instead of re-plumbing the whole car.

If your L81 is mostly stock (~200 hp, give or take) you should be fine w/ the stock lines.

What about the MSD Atomic EFI fuel injection conversion. Saw it installed on Hot Rod TV and it looked like a relatively easy project. No need for special lines or in the tank pumps.
If I wanted to go to fuel injection, I would be looking into this set up.

If I wanted to go fuel injection, I'd want an in the tank pump. Quieter and tend to last longer, protected better from damage.

You'll still need to do some line routing. These are not plug and play.

That said, I think any of the self-tuning MAP setups will work about equivalently well. I'd go with FAST myself, but luckily for me in the state of CA I'm not allowed to make my car run more efficiently unless the CARB has been bribed.

I went with TPI because it came with the L98 motor and 700R trans I bought, plus I can get parts for it anytime anywhere. I picked up a new wiring harness, ECM and a PROM programed and wired for only the things I want. I have about $450.00 into it. I got the harness and other parts from these guys. LINK

Motor is 400 hp at flywheel. I added hot cam and roller rockers and dynoed at 300 at rear wheels.

At that point, then, you're close. You may need to go up a bit on lines.

What heads are you running?

Fast Burn Heads from GM Performance.

Others have said the main line is fine but the return should be larger and others said it will be fine.
