Replcement battery
Need to replace battery on a benchmark type car. it is a 71. Anyone know anything about Restoration Battery? Read mixed reviews. Recommendations for replacement battery??

If your not doing NCRS any correct battery will be fine as opposed to spending $300 for theirs. Not sure what you mean by "benchmark". I have been using Sears Die Hard for many years.

Hi P,
I read your question on the DB too.
I bought a 89W from RB last summer. It judges a bit better than an 89S.
The cost is certainly an issue to be considered.
I'm not too familiar with the "Benchmark" award; will the judges be looking for the original battery?; not a replacement?
Regards,
Alan

Burning Brakes
FWIW, I bought a battery from Restoration Battery in 2006. I keep it on a Battery Minder when the car is not in use (during the season and of course during the off-season too) with absolutely no problems. I too have read mixed reviews on these batteries and cannot understand how this can be, based on my experience.
I'm away from my 2010 NCRS judging sheets, so I can't tell you what my (minor) deduct was for the repro battery, but I am happy with it and when it finally goes, I'll surely replace it with another Restoration Battery. The premium is tasty, however, it completes the look for me, which carries value at least in my mind.
Hope this helps!

Hi P,
I agree with Don that the appearance is worth the $ for some people.
Hi Don,
I just got home from the Convention in San Diego last night. There were lot's of GREAT cars as you'd expect.
Brad Severson had his just completed 69, 427/390, LeMans Blue coupe there and I found it STUNNING! He is a CRAFTSMAN!
103f here today!
