ive got a 79 vette that ive gutted the 383 stroker and 700r4 out of, and the previous plan was to build a forged and whipple charged ls1 and a built 4l60e/maybe a turbo 350 tranny for a swap. but after some debate with some buddies im considering a different ls motor. options brought up were the ls6, ls2, and ls3. any motor choice would be supercharged with a roots or twin screw blower, i prefer whipple. looking for thoughts/ideas on what i should so far as reliability and power would be. looking to make at least 650rwhp and matching torque with the growing room for more power as i want it. car will be a street car mostly. i am aware of the cheap, fast, reliable phrase and will be going with fast and reliable so all options are on the table, id rather spend the money to make something durable and done right. i know a ls1 will fit but hows the fit and swap on these other motors and which one will be the best performing choice? thanks for any input
Take a look at the Edelbrock LS416 SC with 720hp. At $17k it is cost effective for your goals. The TCI 6x transmission is also a good choice if funds are sufficient. It is a 6spauto good to 850hp and packed in a 4L60e casing.

i like the transmission but wasnt looking to spend 17k in just the motor. i need major overhauls on the stock suspension and brakes as well, including painting and some aftermarket body pieces. previously i could pick up a full whipple s/c kit for 6k and since i already have two ls1 blocks and a ls1 pcm i was going to go from there. im looking into a crate lsx376 or ls3. but still wanting any info on either of these swaps.
