Default Pillar Post Weatherstrip Clip

I need to replace the Outer Pillar Post Weatherstrip Clip while I am doing a weatherstrip job on my 1978. (It is broken off)

From the factory, they were rivited in to the post. What is the best method to replace this clip? If I drill out the old rivit, I would think that I will not be able to put another rivit in.

Anyone else delt with this, and have any ideas? I think that I really should put the clip back on, or else I will prematurely wear the weatherstrip?

Thanks.
Andrew

Yes drill out the rivits.
After they are out, the metal strip behind the rubber will be loose, you can then install the new rivites behind this metal part...
When you order the new clips they should either come as a kit with the new rivits, or you can order them seperatly...
Just be carefull pounding them flat, I used a blunt punch and a hammer, and it worked fine, But I was gentle, so I didn't break the windshield...

Good luck.
